Avram Grant Resigned As Ghana Coach

Ghana coach Avram Grant has resigned from his post just two days after AFCON which Camerroon won defeating the Black Stars enroute to finals and they left the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon without a medal losing the third-placed to Burkina Faso.

The former Chelsea Boss, who took over from Kwesi Appiah in December 2014 led the Black Stars, Ghana to finals of last AFCON in Equatorial Guinea 2015 where they were defeated by Yaya Toure and Co, CIV before again losing the third-placed to Burkina Faso 1 - 0.

The Isreali was in charge of Ghana for 26 months and played 29 games, won 14, drew 8 and had 7 defeats in all. He told Sky Sports: "After an extremely amicable meeting with the president of Ghana FA, and following more than two successful years in charge of the national team, I have to tender my letter by informing Mr Nyantakyi that it is time for me to move on to a new challenge and I thank him for the opportunity"

"I've hugely enjoyed my time in Ghana, taking over after the disastrous 2014 World Cup campaign and rebuilding the squad to reach the final in the Africa Cup of Nations for only the second time in 23 years, and also the semi final of this year's competition."

With 2018 World Cup qualifying in August, Ghana FA will start to look for his successor to begins preparation in time. Report of a possible replacement in Former Black Stars player Ibrahim Tanko, Uganda coach Milutin Sredojevic and Morocco coach Herve Renard are ripe.
