Leicester City and Algeria's Riyad Mahrez named BBC African Footballer of the Year for 2016 after a remarkable year with Leicester City, which they went on to crown champions of Barclay Premier League 2015 - 2016 season.
Mahrez beating last year winner Yaya Toure, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Andre Ayew and Sadio Mane to claim the award and also named the 7th Ballon d'Or player in the list of 30 players.
Here is the order of position, Pierre-emerick Aubameyang came 2nd, André Ayew, Sadio Mané and Yaya Toure came 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively.
He told BBC "It means a lot, it's something big for African players so I am very happy, I am very proud. It's always good to receive awards and for African players it's a huge honour. To all the fans, thank you very much."
"I just have to carry on and keep going with my football and see what I can do." He also thanks his family by dedicating the award to them and the Algeria fans.
Mahrez who signed for Leicester from Le Havre for £400,000 and went to win EPL with 17 goals and providing 11 assists and also end the season with PFA player of the year.
Leicester manager Claudio Ranieiri was in attendance as Mahrez received his award and told BBC "I want to see him continue as a fantastic player, it's very important for us, for the team. He is improving everyday.
"I don't speak about his quality. I speak about his sacrifice, he has fought for the team because it's very important for us to be together."
Mahrez now joins a list of greats, including Abedi Pele, George Weah, Jay-Jay Okocha and Didier Drogba, to have won the BBC African Footballer of the year award.
