John Arne Riise retires from football

Former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise has confirmed his retirement from professional football at the age of 36.

The Norwegian who spent 7 years of his 20-year professional career at Anfield, Liverpool won the 2005 Champions league, FA Cup, League Cup and two UEFA Super Cup during his 7 years with the Reds. 


Riise born in Molde arrive from Monaco to link up with Gerard Houllier at Liverpool. He is the most-capped Norway player of all-time representing the country 110 times.

Since leaving the Liverpool in 2008, He has featured for AS Roma, Fulham, APOEL, Delhi Dynamos before settling with Aalesund where he started his career. He revealed the news in a blog post on his official website on Monday.
