Francesco Totti signs new one-year contract

Francesco Totti signs a new one-year contract with AS Roma. The 39-year-old joined the club aged 12 where came through the junior ranks and make his first team debut against Brescia in 1993 at aged 16. He scored his first goal for Roma against Foggia in September 1994.

He established himself as regular in first team and went on until he became the youngest club captain in the history of Serie A in 1998 after he took over the captain armband from Aldair (Brazilian).

Totti met with the President James Pallotta on his future with the club.

"I really wanted this contract, it represents the realization of my dream," Totti said continued: "I always wanted to end my career having only worn one shirt - Roma one - Aftert speaking with the President, I have more conviction that working together we can achieve great things"

Totti, who had made close 600th appearance for the club in last season and help Roma finished third-place, a qualification to European football next season.


The President, Pallotta said "It's quite fitting that on the anniversary of the day AS roma was founded...they have has signed a new playing contract with Totti.

He also said "No one has played more games or scored more goals for the football  club than Francesco Totti and we are delighted that he will continue for one more season with us. We want him for final season on the pitch to be the start of a new era of success for AS Roma.
