UCL 2017-2018: How The Europa League Winners enter the Champions League

A critical look at this year's Europa final between Ajax and Manchester United and how its shape the qualifying for next season (2017-2018) UEFA Champion League group stage across Europe.

Vividly a top-two finish for Juventus and Real Madrid in their domestic leagues respectively will add to the group stage as well for Ajax and Manchester United considering both clubs are in this year UEFA Champion Leagues final to be played in Cardiff, South Wales. Though, Madrid are already guaranteed top-two position in La Liga, so if they win the cup comes 3rd of June then a victory for Manchester United or Ajax will put them automatic in the group stage likewise same if Juventus win the cup and end domestic league at top-two.

Key Fact for 2017-2018 UEFA Champion Leagues Group Stage

First and foremost, The UEFA Champions League winners are guaranteed a 2017-2018 group place regardless of where they finish in their domestic league.

Secondly, The UEFA Europa League winners will enter next season 2017-2018 UEFA Champions League play-off league route unless EITHER they are already qualified for the UEFA Champions League group stage via their domestic league.

OR

The UEFA Champions League winners are already qualified for the group stage via their domestic league (as explained above), which will create a slot in the group stage and which would be filled by the UEFA Europa League winners going straight into the group stage.

Notice:
Based on the league standing across Europe a Real Madrid win in Cardiff will guaranteed this year's UEFA Europa League winners to qualify to the 2017-2018 UEFA Champions League group stage (because Madrid have already qualified for the group stage due to guaranteed top-two finish in La Liga for 2016-2017). The same would apply if Juventus finish in the Serie A top-two and win the UEFA Champions League.

Thirdly, UEFA Europa League winners have to enter the UEFA Champions League play-offs only if Juventus finish third in Serie A and win the UEFA Champions League in Cardiff.

The Fourth case, England will have five UEFA Champions League places next season if Manchester United win the UEFA Europa League as they will finish outside the top four in the Premier League.

As for Ajax and Holland, they will not receive an extra slot for UEFA Champions League if Ajax win the UEFA Europa League because Ajax have finished inside the UEFA Champions League qualifying places in their domestic league.

Key Note: In all cases, if the access list needs to be adjusted for vacancies created in any round once all the participants are known and admitted, priority for the UEFA Champions League will be given to the winners of the domestic championship (in accordance with the entry stage as per the access list). The adjusted list will be announced when decided by UEFA.
