Barcelona With New Coach And New Kits 2017 - 2018.....

Barcelona have revealed their new home kit for the 2017-18 season, with a different look to the traditional red stripes and a new sponsor and as well confirmed that 53-year-old Ernesto Valverde will be their new coach.

Barcelona announced their new shirt on the same day they promised an announcement on who would become their new manager, replacing Luis Enrique. The statement on Monday confirmed Valverde as the new coach on a two-year deal replacing Luis Enrique this summer.

The shirt is designed by Nike, who call it an 'updated interpretation of the traditional Blaugrana stripes'. The kit goes on sale on June 1 was unveiled via social media on Monday morning, with a stylised image featuring many first team stars, including Neymar, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Andres Iniesta etc.

A statement on their website says: 'On the shirt, the vertical red bands are cast against a deep royal blue to form the updated stripe composition. 'Detailing inspired by the club’s history and culture can be seen on the collar, which is partially defined by the Catalan flag, the Senyera. On the inside of the shirt the word “Forca” on the inner right sleeve and “Barca” on the left remind of inner club pride.'

Ernesto Valverde announced at the beginning of May that he would not be renewing his contract with Athletic Club and that gave Barca more bright chances to look in that way with about four others candidates mentioned like Jorge Sampaoli, Ronald Koeman and Luis Enrique's assistant, Juan Carlos Unzue.

Born in Extremadura, Ernesto Valverde, El Txingurri (which means bee in Basque) in his playing days spent two years at Barca as a player when Johan Cruyff was the coach between 1988 and 1990 (won UEFA Cup and Cup Winners' Cup during a two-year stint as a striker). He has won the Spanish Supercopa at Athletic - by beating Barca in 2015 - as well as three Greek titles and two cups with Olympiacos, while he also led Espanyol to a UEFA Cup final in 2007. Valverde had coached Valencia and Villarreal as well in La Liga.
