Just two weeks before the start of the new Serie A season, the Nerazzurri's Chinese owners have decide to let go with Mancini following the club's 6 - 1 defeat against Tottenham in a pre-season friendly in Oslo.

Mancini 51, had been under pressure since the club failed to qualify for this season's Champion League despite having been top of the table towards end of January 2016 and Inter finished 13 points behind third-placed Roma and were also beaten by Juventus on penalties in the Coppa Italia semi-finals.. Mancini returned to Inter in 2014 for the second term in charge after he led Inter to three consecutive Serie A titles in his first term.

The former Manchester City Boss had issues with head of Sunning Holding Group, the owner of the Inter over transfer policy this year and also overseen a poor pre-season which heavy defeats to Bayern Munich, PSG and recently Tottenham with just one win from five friendlies. A Club statement: "Inter would like to place on record its thanks to Roberto for the work carried out with the team since joining in November 2014."

Frank De Boer has been appointed as the new head coach of Inter on a three-year deal. "F.C. Internazionale Milano confirms that Dutchman Fran De Boer will be unveiled as the New head coach at a press conference today at the Centro Sportive Angelo Moratti."

"De Boer will join the Nerazzurri on a three-year contract and will take charge of first team training this afternoon. "The Dutchman brings with him a wealth of international experience having played at the highest level for both club and country."

De Boer will be charged with responsibility to take the club to a new level and rebuilding to further stabilize the club with two weeks to start the  Serie A league.

De Boer's first senior coaching role saw him assist Bert van Marwijk in Netherlands' 2010 World Cup campaign, where they were beaten by Spain in the final. A six-year spell in charge of Ajax - for whom he played over 300 games - followed and he steered them to four successive Eredivisie titles, a first in the club's history.
